Digital Printing
Printing using computers and laser or ink-jet printers is known as digital printing.
Digital printing, an image is sent directly to the printer using computer generate digital files such as PDF and those from graphics software, jpegs and gifs.
Digital printing allows for fast turnaround time and printing as required. Instead of having to print large, pre-determined runs, printing
can be done for as little as one print.
PFD stands for Portable Document Format a file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange.
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the name of the committee that created the standard, issuing a standard in
1992 which was approved in 1994 as ISO 10918-1.
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format introduced by CompuServe in 1987 and has since come into widespread usage on the
World Wide Web.
